Donald S. Stewart, MD grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern in 2002, finishing with the distinction of AOA. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 1994.
Dr. Stewart completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Texas A&M Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas in 2007. He then completed his fellowship training in 2008 in foot and ankle surgery under the direction of Thomas O. Clanton, MD, in Houston, Texas. While in Houston, Dr. Stewart worked as a team physician for Rice University athletics. He also assisted team coverage for the Houston Rockets.
After completion of his fellowship, Dr. Stewart traveled to Dresden, Germany to gain further training in trauma orthopedics. He completed the AO fellowship with a focus on general trauma principles and post traumatic foot and ankle reconstruction.
Dr. Stewart is back in his hometown to continue his goals of treating all aspects of operative and non-operative foot and ankle care. He has special interests in trauma and sports-related foot and ankle injuries, including post-traumatic arthritis, ligamentous injuries, tendon injuries, and cartilage injuries. Additionally, he enjoys treating reconstructive and deformity problems of the foot and ankle including flatfoot, cavus foot, and rheumatoid conditions.
He is a member of the American Medical Association; America Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. He serves as a faculty member as a University of North Texas Health Science Center Clinical Instructor, teaching medical school and PA students, as well as John Peter Smith residents.
Dr. Stewart is married to Samantha, a pharmacist in Fort Worth. His interest include running, climbing, hiking and cars. He sees patients at the Patient Care Center, 855 Montgomery, Fort Worth, and the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center, 830 W. I-20, Arlington.
